Lacey and her friends pick on Halen and tease her about her Irish accent. A witch curses Lacey for her wrong doings against Halen with bad luck. Is Halen her key to getting her luck back? What will she do when everything around her is falling apart? In the end despite her challenges Lacey learns the value of friendship and kindness.

As Pecos and I reach the corrals I could hear Kayla's laugh. It was a wretched laugh. She sounds like those green witches with faces full of warts you see in the movies. I could picture Kayla flying in the pink and orange sunset, on a corn broom the wooden handle gripped in both hands. Her bleach blond hair trailing in the air behind her under a large pointy black hat, with her head held back in a full on cackle, as she circles her victims below.
